Description:
This beautiful Scottish mahogany chest of drawers was hand-crafted in Victorian Britain around 1890. Over the years, the mahogany has developed a lovely patina that enriches the distinct mahogany grain and complexion. The result is a fine, lustrous wood complemented beautifully by clear knobs, carved columnar designs and a unique character that has settled into the piece for over a century. Containing at classic two-over-three drawer design with the characteristic Scottish addition of a top drawer, this dresser offers an incredible amount of storage. Each of the drawers feature hand-cut dovetailed joints, and the piece stands on sturdy turned feet. The wood has sustained significant surface wear, which contributes to the rich character of the piece, while some of the top planks are a bit loose. The sides have also developed age splits, which are purely cosmetic phenomena that do not affect structural integrity and result, as the term indicates, from aging. All solid-wood pieces eventually develop age splits. The drawers also operate with slight difficulty, as is expected of a piece with such age. Nevertheless, this Scottish mahogany dresser not only looks beautiful, but would also make a very useful addition to any home--so don't miss your chance to make it yours today!
