Antique Enameled Ornolu & Glass Double Inkstand, 19th C
Description: Antique Enameled Ormolu & Glass Double Inkstand, Late 19th C. The gilt bronze/brass tray features a raised pen stand and two recessed welled fitted with square cut glass inkpots with matching covers. The surface of the tray and covers are cast with recessed foliate and geonetric patterns which are filled/inlaid with black enamel. The base edge of one recessed inkpot well on the stand is marked/stamped: "B.B. No 8" and "Pat. July. 28. 1874". Dimensions: 2-3/4" High, 8-3/4" Wide, 5-3/4" Deep. Weight: 3.8lbs. (61oz.) Condition: There are a number of chips/losses to the inlaid black enamel along the surface of the inkstand and each of the covers. There are some stable cracks to the remaining black enamel. There are some dents to the side/rim of each cover. There is some light scratching/wear and oxidation to the surface of the brass/bronze. There are some scratches to the surface of each glass inkpot with a number of small surface chips/flakes along the cut edges/corners (primarily along the top and base rims). Otherwise, the piece is in good condition.
