Description:
This vesta case has a square shaped form with rounded corners. The vesta case has all over bright cut engraved scrolling acanthus leaf decoration. To the front of the vesta case is a bright cut engraved vacant shield shaped cartouche. The hinged case has a thumbpiece to one side and a serrated striker to the underside. The vesta case is fitted with a ring attachment and sterling silver link chain with T-bar. The vesta case was made by William Neale, Chester, England in 1905. The chain was made in Birmingham in 1901. This vesta and chain are both a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition. The engraved decoration is crisp. Hallmarks struck to the interior rim of the vesta case are very clear. Hallmarks struck to the ring attachment and to each link of the chain are clear. Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this item. Vesta 4.3cm/1.7" square, Depth 1cm/0.4", Chain Length 24cm/9.5", Total Weight 53.2g.
