Description:
This card case has a rectangular form. The case and hinged cover have pierced and chased scrolling acanthus leaf and floral decoration. To the centre of either side there are detailed chased decorated scenes of Abbotsford House, home of Sir Walter Scott, and Newstead Abbey, originally the home of Lord Byron, and subsequently, in 1817 owned by Colonel Thomas Wildman. The card case has plain sides. This card case is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition. The decoration is crisp and sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the interior rim of the body are clear. Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this item.
