Description:
Scarce. Circa 1876. OH: 6-1/8”, OD: 3-3/8”. True, original, antique, sparkling, clear glass, Early American Pressed/Pattern Glass goblet in the “1876 Centennial Liberty Bell Goblet” aka “1876 Centennial Goblet” aka “Centennial 1876” aka “Philadelphia Centennial” aka “Liberty Bell Goblet” pattern by Gillander & Sons at their Centennial exhibit in Philadelphia (though frequently attributed to Adams & Co.. Verified in “Early American Pressed Glass” by Ruth Webb Lee. One side of the goblet shows the Liberty bell and over head banner with “DECLARATION of INDEPENDENCE”; the opposite side says: “1876 100 YEARS AGO 1776” in stippled script. Three part mould, with bubbles and straw marks. This goblet lists at $95.00 in the updated Metz published in 2000. It comes from an extensive private collection and is in perfect crystal clear condition with no damage, tinting or even mould line roughage; making it FINE EXAMPLE IN NEAR MINT CONDITION. Unmarked of course.
