Description:
Beautiful carvings adorn this Dutch solid oak corner chair made c1890. The patina has given way to a lovely darkened grain which compliments the oak's deep color. Floral carvings adorn the skirt on all four sides. Both sides of the chair have open carved faces which are simplistically replicated on the back of the chair. The legs are bobbin-turned with charming carvings on both the top rail and splats. Solid-brass brads run the circumference of the chair keeping the upholstery in place. There are several wood fractures and some of the carvings have sustained some damage (pictured above). A few of the brass brad are replaced or missing. The finish has sustained some minor wear throughout it's lifetime. Despite these imperfections this chair remains quite sturdy and would be a lovely addition to any collection.
