Description:
Antique 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty semi-formal Robe for a Manchu woman. A dark blue satin Silk embroidered in coloured floss silks with six flower-patterned roundels and two medallions on the chest and on the back with bats and butterflies in a landscape, flower springs. The lower border of diagonal bands and rounded billows represent a sea-wave with water rocks on the centre symbolizing the earth mountain. The bottom is heavily embroidered with a sea-wave border. Lined in blue silk damask woven in a fine pattern. Dimensions when placed flat: Approximately 160 cm (63 in) by 114 cm (45 in). Condition: The Robe has one hole on the right sleeve and one hole on the bottom heavily embroidered sea-wave border. There is also one patch on the lower part of the front near the opening.
