Description: Authentic antique Chinese Kingfisher feather, silver and gilt silver hair jewelry ornament, set with hardstone / amber. Well over 100 years old.

Measures 6 inches long
Beautifully crafted hair ornament made of silver and gold washed silver and then set with the vibrant turquoise feathers of the Chinese kingfisher bird. A beautiful arrangement of flowers - peonies, irises, set with hardstone/amber (we do not know what it is, but it glistens beautifully in the light). The back with it's gold washed surface is almost more beautiful than the front.
Condition is very good considering the delicacy of this item. There are naturally some losses to the feather, but less than one would expect, and two small stones are missing. The craze for kingfisher jewellery and hair ornaments is supposed to have threatened these little birds almost to extinction during the 19th century.
