Description: A wonderfully carved Chinese (1870-1920) cinnabar bookends set in ornate chiseled brass frames. The carving depicts figural scenes in garden. This is a fantastic old cinnabar example, carving is deep and delicate with nice age-acquired patina from handling. It is in excellent condition, each bookend measures 6-1/2" high x 4-5/8" wide and 3-1/2" deep. The base is marked CHINA. It is extremely difficult to capture the beauty which eye so easily perceives.
