Description: Museum quality carved shell medical lancet case and original lancets, (double sided blade used by doctors in previous centuries for sugery / cutting and pricking), in shell protectors. Made in China 17th - 18th century.

Measures 3 inches high.

Case made of tortoise. THe entire outer surface of the case is minutely & intricately carved with people in pagodas, pavillions, windswept trees, flowers, a dragon and birds. Great detail - from the fingers of the humans to the checker board and scales on the dragon. Marvellous colour and patina. Metal button for opening. INside the box is fitted to hold 4 lancets, miraculously, each containing the original lancet in it's original shell protector - of wonderful quality. Hinged lid.

Very good condition. No damage / restoration of any sort found.
