Description: For your consideration, we are offering an Antique Child's Dance Costume and an Original Photo of the child, when he wore it. The costume includes maroon wool felt hat with black tassel and emblem. The emblem looks like a crown with a cross or dagger in the top of it. There is a white blouse with red ribbon trim and smocked shoulders. There is a white pleated skirt and a darker maroon velvet vest with yellow and blue ribbon trim. The vest also features a blackish color trim that is made of a kind of soft wire mesh type of material. The ribbons and mesh are sewn to create flowers on the vest. There is a pair of slipper type shoes with pom poms on the top and 2 black tassels that were worn over stockings. We do not have the stockings. We do however have an old antique photo that shows a boy wearing the costume. The photo measures 9 1/2 inches wide X 7 5/8 inches high and is not in the best of condition. It has 3 torn corners and bending and crackling. The costume is in great condition for it's age. The skirt has some soil spots. Some are light yellow and some are darker. I am pretty certain the darker spots are caused by the large black hook and eyes located on the waistband on the back of the skirt. There is an old stitched repair to the skirt fabric located right on the edge of the opening on the back of the skirt, below the 2 hooks and eyes. The skirt is 24 in the waist and about 16 inches long. It is machine stitched. The blouse features full sleeves and is machine stitched. From the base of the collar to the hem, it is about 18 inches long. The sleeves are about 15 inches long from the shoulder seam. The chest measures about 32 inches or so. The blouse retains all 5 of it's original mother of pearl buttons and it has a few soil spots. Now for the vest. It measures about 13 inches long and is about 22 inches in the chest. It has two attached long pieces that hang down in the back. They are about 18 inches long each. Some of the soft meshy trim material is showing some wear. One if the leather slipper type shoes has a stitched repair on it's heel.
