Antique Boulle & Brass Inlaid Wood Box 19C. France
Description: Antique Boulle & Brass Inlaid Ebonized Wood Table Box, 19th C. Probably France. The box features a hinged cover and hinged front panel with lock. The surface of the cover is inlaid with an elaborate scrolled brass and boulle pattern. The box is inlaid with brass edges and banding. The piece is not signed/marked. Dimensions: 10-1/2" Long, 3-7/8" Wide, 3-1/4" High. Weight: 1.35lbs. (21.65oz.) Condition: The key to the lock is missing. The locking pin to the rim of the cover is bent and the cover does not closed properly. There is some minor cracking and several small losses to the inlaid boulle pattern along the surface of the cover. There is considerable scratching/wear to the surface and edges of the wood box. There are cracks to the wood panels along each side of the box. There are some small losses to the wood veneer along the base edges/corners of the box. Otherwise, the box is in good condition.
