Description:
Here is an outrageously wonderful classical designed candle sconce. It looks like a candle burning astral lamp! I believe this sconce dates to the end of the 19th century and it is candle burning. Working almost on the push up principle, with spring loading to keep the candle at burning level at all times. It is my feeling that this was most likely used in a rail road car or on a yacht perhaps. It is made of brass with an interior brass removable tube, almost like an oil font. The attached bracket that mounts the sconce to the wall is solid brass. The shade is very astral looking probably made by Pairpoint with deeply engraved florals on a frosted surface. Measuring overall, from top of the shade to the bottom of sconce 14" high and the space between the wall and sconce is 4”. The shade fitter is standard 2". Overall condition is considered very good having only a small split in the brass at the bottom of the sconce and the shade has only some flea bites at the fitter end.
