6 Antique B. Altman Vermeil Hors d'uvres Knives Forks
Description: A Set of 6 Hors d'uvres Knives and 6 Hors d'uvres Forks, Made in France in Late 19C or Early 20C For Sale by B. Altman in New York City. The knives and forks are made of vermeil and turquoise plastic. The ferrules have raised foliate ornament. Most pieces are stamped "B. Altman & Co." and "Made in France."

The knives and forks are in a fitted leather-bound canteen case lined in white silk. The lining is stamped "B. Altman & Co.," "Paris-New-York," and "Made in France." A distinctive "special occasion" set. Dimensions: Knife: 6-3/4" Long, 1/2" Wide, 1/4" Deep. Fork: 6-1/4" Long, 1/2" Wide, 1/2" Deep. Case: 1-3/4" High, 7-1/2" Wide, 6-3/4" Deep. Total weight: 1-1/4 lbs. Condition: All the handles are cracked. The cracks range from very noticeable to insignificant. Other problems include tarnishing and oxidation. Nonetheless a distinctive set that should clean up nicely.
