Antique African Carved Wood Dan Face Mask 20thC Liberia
Description: Antique African Carved Wood Dan Face Mask, 20th C. Liberia. The broad oval face mask is modeled with pierced slit eyes, triangular nose and raised diamond shaped open mouth. The face features a prominent raised forehead and the edge/perimeter of the mask is punctuated with small holes. The surface features an ebony stain/patina. There is a hanging wire threaded through the holes along the sides/back. Price Comparison: $800-1200 in Fine Art & Antiques Gallery. Dimensions: 8-3/8" High, 5" Wide, 3-1/8" Deep. Weight: 0.62lbs. (10oz.) Condition: There are a few small stable cracks along the top edge/rim (measuring about 1-1/4" long). There is considerable rubbing/wear to the surface and edges. There are a few small scratches to the surface. Otherwise, the mask is in good condition.
