Description: Antique 18th century Caucasian sword Palsh with an extremely long broad and almost straight single edged tapering blade cut on each face with elaborate fullering comprising three fullers of differing lengths and deeply struck on the forte with four Caucasian sword smith marks containing an inscribed maker name. A hilt in the characteristic Shamshir fashion comprising polished dear bone grips-scales retained by two iron rivets with a ribbed iron pommel and plain brass cross-guard. In its original leather covered wooden scabbard with plane brass mounts. Condition: The sword is in good condition considering its age with some scratches on the blade, the wooden scabbard in the lower part just near the chape is broken but holds together. Approximate measurements: Overall length with the scabbard: 101.5 cm (40 inches), the length without the scabbard: 98.3 cm (38 5/8 inches), length of the blade: 84.5 cm (33 1/4 inches).
