Description:
This is an antique 14K gold and enamel "necklace slide". It weighs exactly one gram on my jewelry scale. The enamel is intact, there are no dents or dings, there is wear to the surface of the gold, as would be expected for a piece that's at least 85 years old. It may actually be older, but I cannot confirm that. This is another piece from my parents'(they were long time antique dealers) collection that I cannot find anything to wear with. So here it is, if you are looking for that "one of a kind" type of thing, it's here! I have not seen too many necklace slides around these days, certainly not this old and diminutive. There is a small opening measuring 1/8 inch in length, and 1/16 of an inch in width. This is where the chain would be laced through, so this is meant to be utilized for a delicate or thin gold chain. There looks to be some sort of inner residue or lining that looks like cork? in it, but I cannot be sure, my jewelry loupe can't really determine what ingredient it's made of, but it was probably to prevent the chain from getting stuck and helps it slide more easily.
