Description:
This fine Serapi Persian flatweave wool carpet dates from circa 1900 and measures 11' 2.5" by 13' 10.5". It features a red colored ground with symetrical navy blue tree vine branches sprouting blooming flowers of various sizes and shapes. The navy border has two inner guardstripes and one outer guardstripe. It has its original selvage sides and frayed ends. This carpet was purchased in 1988 for $23,000 from Odalia Oriental Rugs Gallery Ltd., one of the metro New York area's leading dealers which is still in operation today in Greenwich CT. Since its purchase it has been regularly cleaned and has received relatively little foot traffic. It has no dry rot, no fold wear and relatively even footware throughout.
