Material: Solid bronze, old lost wax casting with a heavy concentration of copper to the tin alloy
Period: 17th century conservatively, excavated burials date back to the 9th century
Dimensions: 4 1/2" height, 2 1/2" width, 2 7/8" depth; weight is 9.8 ounces
Condition: Excellent, exquisite signs of age, wear and extensive tribal use. Held in private collection, the condition of this piece remains unchanged from the time of its original 1940's field acquisition. Two minute hairline stress fractures appear to have occurred through the pressure of burial, both areas test stable with no further threat of damage to this exquisite old piece. Gorgeous dark chocolate patina displays subtle brassy highlights, a substantial layer of verdigris suggests previous burial.
