Description: Terracotta model of a house, with central door enclosed with a framework, the eves overhanging, the roof patterned.
From the Majapahit Empire, Java, 15th Century AD.


This interesting artifact is a scale model of a 15th century Javanese house, and would have been an ornament on an actual house, or perhaps a shrine in a temple. We currently have a collection of Javanese terracottas, including figures, animals, and architectual components.
