Description:
Important Renaissance Revival walnut Victorian music cabinet attributed to Allen & Brother, Philadelphia. That firm was known for rich burl with ebonized highlights, Egyptian design motifs, and rare sarrancolin marble. The latter was likely imported from France and is seldom found on pieces other than those made by Allen & Brother. A table with similar design elements can be seen on page 722 of the May 1996 issue of "The Magazine Antiques." This cabinet features claw feet, bell flowers, incised carvings in a burled panel, and a wonderful bronze bust of a young girl set into the front of the cabinet. There is a very slight split in the burled ring around the bronze. There is a key to help open the door. It has burled panels in the sides. A gem! Circa: 1860 Dimensions: 43"H x 26"L x 18"D Finish: Good original with a rich patina Price: $14,500.00
