The front is marked "AKAI GLASS & SINGLE X'TAL HEAD GX-400D-SS GX FOCUSED FIELD QUADRA-SYNC SYSTEM REEL SIZE 10IN OR 7IN". We have/had two matching units, selling this one seperately as there is a slight condition difference between the two. There is no problems with this unit, it works just fine as far as I can see/hear with limited experience on this machine, and no owner's manual. I have played some pre-recorded tapes on this unit, all is just fine, I have not recorded or tested recording. The exterior is clean, a few small chipped off wood area on the side edges of the outer walnut wood shell, otherwise in very good shape. It has 4 rubber legs to set either upright or flat down on it's back, and will operate just fine in either position. It is heavy, and shipping may be costly, but we tried to estimate the cost at $50 for addresses near southeastern Ohio where we are located.
