Description: Fabulous Wood Salt & Pepper Shakers sitting on a large Elephant Holder. The native that is painted yellow and red is marked P for Pepper & has 5 holes. The native that is painted yellow is marked S for salt & also has 5 holes but the center hole is larger. The shakers are approximately 2 1/8" tall & 1" in diameter. The elephant measures 7 1/4" long, 8 1/2" tall to the top of his tail, 3 1/2" tall to the top if his back. The tail is removable for easy storage. One of the elephants ears swings easily when toughed or moved, The other ear is more stiff but does move. The elephants eyes and tusks are pained on. There are 8 holes on each side of the elephant to add toothpick holders if desired or possible some hors d'oeuvres. They both have their original corks. The bottom of the elephant is also stamped in black Japan and has a blue and white paper sticker that reads: Fred Roberts Company San Francisco Made In Japan. The Salt shaker has a bit of color loss on the side of the neck. Hard to see if they are sitting in the elephant holder. I got several shaker sets from a woman's' estate who had collected over 500 shakers from the 50's & 60's. She did use these shakers. There are no cracks or chips in the wood. These are from the 50's.
