Description: AFRICAN ARTIFACTS: DENGESE FIGURE - DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO. The Dengese people do not use masks. They produce statues with elongated upper torso covered in scarification. The lower extremities are not depicted. Measurement and weight - 24.5" tall and 2 lbs, 13.3 oz. NOTE: THESE ARTIFACTS ARE FROM AN ESTATE IN SOUTHERN MARYLAND. In order to provide the most acdurate information, in addition to what accompanied the artifacts, I confered with the National Museum of African Art, Smithsonian Institution. Each artifact is listed as “IN THE STYLE OF” (ARTICULATED EXAMPLES OF 20th. CENTURY EXOTIC DÉCOR).
