Description: This spectacular pair of beds is fine example of Aesthetic movement - a streamlined Victorian design. These Japanese inspired beds are part of the 22 piece bedroom and parlor suite, designed and custom made for Count Pernstein of Austria. Exquisite workmanship is clearly evident - brass, fruitwood and Mother of Pearl inlays, hand carved faux bamboo, scroll work, burr wood panels and hand dove tailing. Constructed in cherry? veneer over oak, finished in "french polish". Usually all European custom made beds were smaller than standard "twin" size, but this set is larger than standard. Each bed would accommodate box spring or mattress 79 inches long and 45.75 inches wide. Excellent condition, overall dimension of each bed is 48.5" high x 84.5" long. The headboard is 48.5" high, footboard is 30" high. We can display only 4 photos, but more detailed photos are available. Although we sold some pieces from this suite in the past, numerous are still available. If interested, please inquire. All pieces are available for personal inspection, we are located a hour drive north of Chicago. Pickup is STRONGLY recommended due to extreme weight, but if pickup is impossible then freight shipping would be required.
