Description:
One of the "McCaskey "One Writing Systems" Accounting Registers- this one is the large version with three bays. This was a system devised by the McCaskey Company of Alliance, Ohio around the turn of the century to help merchants, professionals and industries to manage their accounts in an orderly way. The original paper account pages were hand written in a beautiful script and placed in a sliding drawer directly under the glass top so they could be referred to and still be protected. The raised panel quartersawn oak case has 7 drawers below the account pages- one fitted with posts for receipts- the others with original metal bottoms. The original McCaskey decal is preserved on the reverse side. One of the McCaskey advertisements touted: "For a Credit Business/For a Cash Business- "One Writing" Speed and Accuracy". How far we have come, but what a wonderful piece of nostalgia. Beautiful original finish.
