Description:
This is a beautiful American Brilliant Cut Ships Whiskey decanter made circa 1880. The whiskey decanter measures approx. 6" tall and 5-1/2" in diameter at the widest point of its squat body. There is no stopper and it does not look like it ever had one. There are no marks to indicate any use of a stopper. This decanter weighs 2 lbs. This decanter has a cut pattern on the body of Strawberry Diamond all around. The spout and neck are fluted and is separated from the body cut by step cutting. The bottom is cut with a huge 24 point rayed star. The applied handle does have a heat check where it attaches to the neck of the decanter but is firmly attached. See photo #2. There are no other chips, flakes or cracks.
