Description:
This we have found out is a portrait of a Mandrill. This odd creature is the world's largest monkey. Its about 3' tall and about 70lbs.They are noted for their bright colors, red nose & rump & blue cheeks which are deeply ribbed, note the lines on the tile face. The eyes are very tiny & close together. It is a great face! This is a superb tile right out of the Deco period. Ernst Thichert pieces are very sought after and only show up occasionally. Ones like this are rare. The condition is very good. Done in a solid green majolica glaze. This would be a prize for anyone's collection.
