Description:
The cup alone is 11" the total height is 18.25". (28 and 46.5 cm)
Made by the US firm of Reed & Barton c1900 with an engraved date of 1915 the cup displays pristine silver plating having been Restored, Replated and Lacquered for permanence by the famed Montreal Silversmith firm BIRKS. More info available on request. The lid was possibly a later addition and the soccer player topping it, an even later one, dating c1930. It appears that the trophy was mounted on a base at some time judging by the 3 small holes at the edge of the bottom rim. I am tempted to have a custom base designed & made although that would increase the price considerably. Engraved as follows:
MACDONALD COLLEGE CHALLENGE CUP for INTER-YEAR ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL presented by P.A.B. November 1915
The Macdonald Campus of McGill University’s (Montreal, Canada) Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition, is now home to 1,200 students from more than 30 countries.
The National Soccer League was formed in 1926 with teams in Ontario and Quebec. Canada played the U.S. in Brooklyn once again and lost 6-2. Prior to that the sport was commonly referred to as football.
A stunning Trophy Cup in "as new" condition that will not need polishing.
