This the finest games box I have handled in 35 years of dealing in this items.Retailed by Hall & Co, 35 Kings Street, Manchester, the domed box is veneered with coromandel, and mounted with gilded straps and a pair of substantial stopped side handles, and having a fitted spring-out front drawer which is released by means of a press button between the hinges. The interior is lined with rich satinwood.The contents comprise:Contained inside the lid:A folding wooden chess and backgammon board, veneerd with coromandel with ivory and coromandel squares, the backgammon side inlaid with ivory & tulipwood.The interior fitted with:Superb quality set of ivory chess men and backgammon / draughts (checker) pieces.Six ivory dice.An engraved gilded and ivory mounted bezique board with ivory pegs.An engraved gilded and ivory mounted cribbage board with ivory pegs.A pair of ivory numbered hand pointersThe drawer contains:A pair of ivory dice shakersA full set of ivory & bone dominoes.Three complete sets of the original De La Rue playing cards, each in its box.and one other early complete set of playing cards.Four leather whist scorers.A selection of ivory chips.This cabinet has had vey little use, retaining its original gilding and complete contents.
