Description:
A 6th plate measures 3.25" x 2.75". The sly grin forming on this handsome fellow's lips makes this a more animated Daguerreian portrait than most. Normally the sitters stared stoically into the camera because of the long exposures required. Technically this likeness is excellent! Fine tonal range along with perfect focus. Looking close one can make out the 2 catch lights in each of his pupils, a clear indication of the 2 light sources used to illuminate him. A very clean dag freshly resealed by a master. There is a fine short line above the sitter's head which is a buff mark. The leather case is original but slightly warped, it does not close. The hinge has been expertly repaired.....Please enlarge my photos for a closer look....To view MORE PHOTOGRAPHS incl.
