Description: Engraving with hand-coloring on paper laid on board. Signature printed in image lower left "W. Dendy Sadler". Printed under image lower left "Painted by W. Dendy Sadler". Publisher information printed under image center. Titled lower center "The New Will". Dimensions: Image Size: 13 3/4 x 18 1/2in., Framed: 23 x 27in., Weighs: 3.5 lbs. (Box H) Condition: Paper has been glued to backing and matting. Slight darkening/yellowing to paper. Otherwise in good condition. Artist's Biography:
After Walter Dendy Sadler (1854-1923), British. Dendy Sadler was born in Dorking, and brought up in Horsham, where he showed a precocious talent for drawing. At age 16 he decided to become a painter and enrolled for two years at Heatherly's School of Art in London, subsequently studying in Germany under W. Simmler. He exhibited at the Dudley Gallery from 1872 and at the Royal Academy from the following year through to the 1890s. He painted contemporary people in domestic and daily life pursuits, showing them with comical expressions illustrating their greed, stupidity etc. [
