Signed lower right, "Miripolsky". Dimensions: Unframed: 18 x 23 1/2 in.; Weighs: 1 pound 8 oz. (Box G) Condition: The work is very lightly soiled. There is minor loss along the lower edge of the work. There are a few small scratches to the surface of the work. The canvas has warped a bit in the center. Under u.v. there is no evidence of restoration. Artist's Biography: Possibly Andre Miripolsky, AMERICAN. Born in Paris, Miripolsky's father was Cultural Advisor for the American Foreign Service and also an artist. The family lived in a series of exotic landscapes including Iran, Thailand, Austria, France, Indonesia and Korea. Miripolsky was immersed and surrounded by art since his youth. By age eight he was working with oils and by age ten he sold his first painting to the American Ambassador of Indonesia. After graduating High School in Seoul, Korea, he headed to the California Institute of the Arts. The artist left after two years to pursue a classical acting career before finally centering his creative axis around the canvas and all things visual. After graduating High School in Seoul, Korea, he headed to the California Institute of the Arts. Miripolsky's deep commitment and participation in timely social and political causes is reflected in the artistic vision he brings to these sort of organizations. In 1991 he contributed a key work depicting "Culture for Freedom and Democracy" for the United Nations Artists and Performers Against Apartheid Symposium. In 1993 Miripolsky was commissioned by the Directors' Guild of America to create a new look for '"The Artist's Rights Foundation" (founders are Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Martin Scorsese). In 1995 he designed a limited edition poster to raise funds for inner city youth of Chicago. Along the same lines, he has been working for several years with the Los Angeles chapter of the "I Have A Dream Foundation". Miripolsky is also actively involved with "Pro-Peace", "AIDS Project L.A." and "Artists for Disarmament". In 1993-1994 Tumer International commissioned original Miripolsky artwork to coincide with the "First Festival of American Film Treasures" in St. Petersburg, as well as a six-city Russian tour of MGM Classics. Miripolsky joined both Ted Turner and Jane Fonda for these events in Russia.
