Description:
A fine and rare soft pine neoclassic fireplace mantelpiece from a large house in Chester County Pennsylvania. The triple arcaded shelf has various mouldings; it is above an interesting course of fluted dentilation separated by fluted spacers. The mantel frieze is mounted with three reeded tablets, the end two having a moulded band course crossing them. The mantel legs or jambs have reeded pilasters with moulded capitals and bases mounted on projected plinths. The mantel opening has a rich trim surround which also acts as the stop member for the central reeded tablet. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1754)
