Description: This is a nineteenth century, Marine antique sewing box with ships wheel top ( The ring moved back and forth) . It has two of its original sewing tools made of ivory. These are called bodkins, which is a small sharp-pointed tool for punching holes in leather or fabric a blunt needle for threading ribbon through loops . From What I understand about this piece, it was kept on the ship and used to sew pieces that were taken home to loved ones. The box is 3" long and has its original working clasp. The velvet material is worn but all original. This is quite the old sewing collectible as well as one for all the Maritime collectors.
