Description:
This is an amazing piece of ceramic sculpture. It is a Della Robbia style plaque done by incredible artisians. The detail is the best. Each face is finely sculptured by hand. The depth or height of the relief is truely amazing. The faces just stand right out there as they sing. You can almost see them mouth the words. The bottom of the plaque reads Gloria Inexelsis Deo. This was found in an old Massachusetts estate. It is done in very heavy clay and you can see where it was hand sculputured from the back. Th letters DA are inscribed into the back. However, there are no other markings. It is a very heavy piece, probably about 10 lbs. The glaze work is just the best. I wish I could tell you more about it but it is in the Della Robbia style and I can say it rivals the real thing in the quality of the craftsmanship and artistry. This is one very fine and special piece.
