Description:
19th c. Perfectly delightful charcoal drawing of a mother cat watching as her two kittens stare intently at the tail of a mouse partially
hidden on the floor in front of them. The artist captured the curiosity of the kittens, while the mother has seen it all before, and still appears to be interested! The artist named the drawing "A Long Tale" in pencil, and the framer cut out the mat so that the title could be seen by
the viewer. The artist uses a number of different techniques to vary the gradations of color from black to putty.
Condition: The drawing has survived in very good
condition over the years. There are a few spots where tiny worms ate a bit of the paper. This is very common in old paper. The worms have long since disappeared. Worm holes are very
frequently found in authentic 19th c. works on paper. If you love cats, this drawing is
truly the "cat's mee-ow" and you will want it for your collection. If you love old drawings and the charm of a well-done and charming work of art, look no further!
