Description:
One of the many books from the Estate of Francis P. Fretwell will be selling. The library is the largest privately owned collection of dog books in the world. Mr. Fretwell was the owner of Monfret Kennels, which bred champion standard poodles. He was former president and governor of the Poodle Club of America, and the Italian Greyhound Club of America. He also served as a delegate to the American Kennel Club for decades. His wonderful collection of books has been carefully maintained. *** 1975 Official National Pictorial of the Irish Setter Club of America, Inc. Compiled and edited by Bernard and Wilma Baron. N.p. Privately published, 1976. 4to., 852p, white dust jacket with black lettering, red cloth with gilt lettering. Illustrated. 823 pedigrees of Irish Setters, each illustrated including 52 in a memorial section – otherwise dogs of the 1970-1975 era, not all champions. A monumental reference work which really doesn’t explain itself or its criteria adequately. Index. Jacket has light edge wear. Tips lightly bumped. Very clean. Mr. Fretwell's bookplate on front fixed endpaper. VG+
