Description:
1948 Magnificent Vintage Mid-Century Ad- MGM presents Glorious Glamorous Lana Turner and Gene Kelly in the Technicolor Thrills of The Three Musketeers. Absolutely Gorgeous Original Vintage Mid-Century Ad done for an October, 1948 issue of Ladies Home Journal Magazine. MGM- which often boasted that they had more stars then there are in Heaven lived up to it's word with the lavish, sumptuous all-Technicolor spectacle of The Three Musketeers. Once again- after a three year abscence from the screen- Stunning Lana Turner wowed em as the audacious yet decidedly deadly Lady De Winter romance and entranced by Gene Kelley certainly one of the best-looking men in Hollywood and very dashing with sword and ladies in any setting- the film also featured Van Heflin as Athos, Angela Lansbury as Queen Anne and a very young June Allyson as Constance. Ad is exceptional for the time- spectacular and rare. By the latter forties most MGM ads were quarter pages and very inexpensively produced- this is a vivid and bold example of promotion for a film they expected to be a smash hit. Artist Russel R. Gale has recreated the vigorous colorful panoply of France, the glittering sexy glamour of Lana at her best and the definitely dramatic dash of the Three Musketeers. Ad measures 11 x 15 and is in bright bold lovely condition overall- will be phenomenal on display!
