Description:
This 4 piece sterling silver Art Deco dresser set with engine turned geometric patterns is hallmarked: "W.N.Ltd" in a chevron which indicates William Neale & Sons, Ltd.; an anchor indicating Birmingham, England; a lion passant indicating sterling silver and the date letter "P" indicating 1939-40. Three pieces (the mirror, hair brush and the clothes brush) are engraved with "Bull.Silversmith.Bedford". The dresser set includes: One (1) hair brush with a rectangular cartouche with the monogram "Phyl". The silver brush casing is separating slightly from the wooden base which holds the bristles. The bristles show minimal wear. The brush is approximately 9"long x 2 9/16" wide. One(1) mirror with a rectangular cartouche with the monogram "Phyl". The mirror has minor shadowing in the silver. The mirror has a perfect beveled edge. The mirror is approximately 10 3/4" long x 3 3/4" wide. There are a couple of minor dents in the side. One (1) clothes brush with rectangular cartouche with "Phyl" engraved inside. The bristles are in almost perfect condition. It measures approximately 5 1/4" long x 1 1/4" wide. One (1) comb which has a beautiful engine turned geometric pattern in the sterling. The plastic comb is possibly a replacement for the original because the comb is not an exact fit for the silver casing. This is a lovely boxed dresser set offered by Chancery Lane Antiques, Inc. $150.00.
