Absolutely Incredible Rare Original Vintage Deco Ad taken from the pages of an August, 1939 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine. Beautiful Technicolor Bright graphic highlights the bountiful charms of one of the greatest flights of the imagination ever witnessed on the screen, The Wizard of Oz. Taken from L. Frank Baums delightful children's classic, MGM stuydios took enormous pains and risks to create the splendid settings, elaborate costumes and superb beauty of Oz, employing 9,200 actors and taking over two years to bring it in all it's tirumphant splendor to audiences who had no idea what to expect. The film featured the young and unbvelivably talented Judy Garland in arole that would launch her as s superstar and also among the greatest box-office draws of an incredible rich varied and successful film year. Ad gives the reader some idea of whats in store- sumptuous sets and costumes, great acting, beautiful and modern songs by Harold Arlen and E.Y Yip Harburg among them the enormously popular standard Somewhere Over the Rainbow- a simple straight to the heart ballad that 16 year old Judy Garland knew and seemed to have lived as she sang it. Ad is rare- this is the only time in 25 years I have ever run across it- and also contians some valuable info on the b/w facing page. Sure to add a touch of old-fashioned MGM magic to any decor!
