Description:
1939 Adorable Rare Vintage Deco Ad- Elsie the Cow takes in the Sites at the Incredible New York World's Fair! Simply Splendid Original Vintage Deco Ad taken from the pages of a June, 1939 issue of Saturday Evening Post Magazine. Elsie, the happy-go-lucky popular mascot of Borden's Dairy Products gets a chance to glance at something beyond her farmyard- the sumptuously modern futuristic sites of the infamous 1939 New York World's Fair. Gorgeous artwork in glorious Technicolor is featured- including the Borden's exhibit Dairy World of Tommorrow, a gold and pink tinted skyline, velvety green lawns and the infamous Trylon and Perisphere in the background. Elsie arrives in some style- note her tail ribbon and Sunday best chapeaux but is a little surprised that her promised meadow is actually Flushing Meadows site of the fair. Great graphics feature Elsie marveling at the various Borden;s products one can smaple at the fairgrounds- including malted milk which we are told is a sworn dietary secret of the glamorous stars in Hollywood perfect for waist-whittling. At the bottom of the ad is a thrilled Elsi pointing ot a birds-eye style overview of the grounds- looking sleek glossy and the last word in modernity. The world- poised between the darkest depression of the century and the possibility of a dveastating war was ready to see a future bright with promise and brimming with technological possibilities- such as monorail systems, freeways and early versions of television. Ad is a fabulous example of late Deco chic utterly charming in every aspect- also a unique way to capture the glee-filled spirit of the last truly Art Deco inspired American pre-war venue. Ad is excptionally ahrd-to-find first time I have ever seen it in over thirty years of collecting Worlds Fair items! Ad measures 11 x 15- crisp clean and dazzling in person.
