Description: 1938 Sensational Vintage Deco Ad- Audacious Petty Pin-Up Girl in See-Through Fuchsia Lingerie Recommends Old Gold Cigarettes. Absolute Fantastic Original Vintage Deco Ad taken from the pages of a rare 1938 issue of Esquire Magazine. Speaking of Figures.. boldly entices this ad Any girl knows you need 2.. 2 have fun! Gorgeous George Petty Pin-Up smiles with eyelids lowered coyly, as she hold a fuchsia bathing suit up over her see-through negligee- bold, sensual yet playful at the same time. Next to her is a large package of Old Gold Cigarettes- mellowed two times, wrapped in two layers of cellophane indeed the freshest flavored smoke on the market. This is an incredible early example of George Petty simple striking and bold. Petty's work takes up where Coles Phillips left off, lending a new new of more risque modernity to the idea of the fade-away illustrations made popular a generation earlier. Take particular notice of his playful wink at censorship- the model wears a sheer completely see-through chiffon negligee yet holds up a deeply pink shaded bathing suit to cover at least a bit of her nudity. The suit itself is likely an irreverent reference to one of Petty's other top-notch clients of the time Jantzen! Petty is undoubtedly the gent one thinks of first when contemplating the art of the pin-up- this is a prime example of just what made his works so wonderful. The color is brilliant in person- done on the heavy stock paper of Esquire Magazine- the second most expensively produced publication of the Art Deco period- and is the back page of the front cover. An incredibly beautiful addition to any collection sure to enhance any decor! Condition is very crisp and clean in person- you will not be disappointed!
