Superb original Aquarelles created to celebrate the 1935 Brussels Exhibition in Paris, done for an special issue of L'illustration Magazine. One page measuring 12 x 16 with a delightful duo of water colors both sophisticated and supreme in their stylized Deco elegance. Top of the page is the stunning main avenue of the Fair illuminated for the evening all done is with plashing bubbling fountains in water feature settings, crowds enjoying the spectacular vie of the grounds. This image is done by artist G.M. Stevens who has beautifully captured the charm of the scene- with a light bright palette enhanced by the soft starry sapphire skies.
Bottom image is done by artist Andre Lagrange and features a lovely daytime scene of the Grand Palace of Mirrors with a gorgeous turquoise sky, nations flags flapping in the light springtime breeze and a wonderful vie of the Palace reflected in the water- feature beneath. Lagrange has also captured the lively beauty of a days stroll in this magnificent if lesser known Art Deco Era Exhibition Fair.
