Description:
1934 Slick Vintage Deco Ad- Dapper Deco Gents Enjoy Lockerroom Libation of Penn Maryland De Luxe Blended Bourbon Al Parker Artwork. Incredibly Snappy and Sleek Color Graphic in Original Vintage Art Deco Ad taken from the pages of an October, 1934 issue of Fortune Magazine. Done in a bright-hued palette featuring bold scarlet and vivid yellow this is artist Al Parker at his best- vivid, vital and exciting yet simple and dramatic. A group of very well-heeled gents enjoy a smooth libation of Penn Maryland Blended Bourbon and soda- (note the elegant siphon in etched glass)following a rousing game of golf. All four sport very natty threads- one has a scarf wound round his neck while the others wear tweeds and bright sweaters or vests- all are Esquire-worthy in their attire- note the white belt at the waist of the white at temples redhead and the polo shirt of the gent we see in profile. Liquor ads went out of their way to celebrate their renewal of ad space following prohibition always focusing attention on the best people and their imbibing habits showing them with great grace and flair often in sleekly sophisticated urban surroundings. Al Parker gives this image a terrific blast of originality and dash- and is a perfect representation of his prolific works and talents. Ad only appeared within the pages of Esquire and Fortune and is thus rare. Measures 12 x 16 some wear to the edges which will not show once it has been matted and framed. Brighter than the actual scan which dimmed the brilliance of the crimson sweater and yellow vest a tad. Will add lustre and definite deco chic to any decor perfect to light up your barware or cocktail area!
