Divinely Stylish couples descend the grand staircase to attend dinner at eight aboard the superbly elegant French Liner Ile De France. Among the most infamously stunning ships afloat during the Dazzling Deco Decade this is a rare and marvelous color ad which features all the delightful details of the magnificent ship- note the high ceilings, sumptuous wall hangings and original Lalique lighting features in the background. The couples at dinner are about as smart and stylish as it gets for the Deco period- note the stain shoulder straps, halter-necklines and stole trimmed arms of the women and the perfect cut of the gents tuxedos- fantastic! Artist Leslie Salburg uses a strong color palette in a delicately sophisticated manner to create a perfect setting for this image. Ads for the French Line ships were seen at this time only in a small select number of publications- Vogue Vanity Fair and Harper's Bazaar- although in large format they were only seen in Fortune and thus rare. This gorgeous ad which is the epitome of glittering Deco glamour measures 12 x 16 and is in near fine condition. Will be incredible on display with any decor and the envy of all who view it!
