Description:
1929 Vintage Deco Paramount Talking Pictures Ad- Fantastic Color Artwork by Lionel Reiss. Original very collectible Deco Paramount Talking Pictures Ad taken from a 1929 issue of Saturday Evening Post Magazine. Exuberantly announcing a new modern miracle- the coming of sound this ad is detailed and exceptionally forward thinking. Paramount was in the lead with the revolution of all-talking pictures a mere two years prior to the publishing of this ad which announces that "moving shadows began to sing and talk and the modern miracle of entertainment- the audible motion picture- was born."
By 1929, Paramount wielded exceptional power in the industry and created a glorious series of color ads with an upbeat, urban sophistication by artist Lionel Reiss to help promote the company. This ad features a bold deep blue graphic of a birds-eye view of some modern cosmopolis- probably New York seen from dipping airplanes- the buildings merge into forms with Paramount All Talking pictures on each skyscraper while hidden in the shadows- elegant couples and snappy slightly risque chorus girls wave to the reader. Without much equivocation in 1929 Paramount offered- If it's a Paramount Picture it's the best show in town! This ad is not only visually arresting and a wonderful bit of whimsy to add to your decor, it is also a bit of film history- with all the bright peppy enthusiasim of the Jazz Age! Measures 11 x 15- gorgeous in person overall condition bright and crisp!
