Description:
1929 Sensational Vintage Deco Ad- Paramount Pictures Presents High-Kicking Chorus Girls and Hot Jazz Rhythms in All-Talking Film Close Harmony Starring Charles Rogers and Nancy Carroll Lionel Reiss Artwork. Amazingly Colorful and Ebullient Original Artwork featured in this Superb Color Vintage Deco Ad taken from a March, 1929 issue of Saturday Evening Post Magazine. Paramount was riding high in 29 having given the world the first all-talking film The Jazz Singer and creating a desire for sound films. This wonderful looking Original Ad is the epitome of Deco style- done in hot pink and gray/black palette by arist Lionel Reiss it has movement, excitement and a delightfully daring line of high-kicking chorus girls done in three rows in a fanning out almost three-d effect with dapper dancing couples and saxophone players in an intimate night-club setting- title done in a rainbow made of pink musical notes. This is a fabulous ad for the studio that set the pace in talking films and created incredible artwork as well. Note the clever mention of a grouping of other Paramount titles and stars within the Deco design: Emil Jannings in Betrayal with Gary Cooper, Richard Dix in Redskin, It Girl Clara Bow in The Wild Party new sensation Maurice Chevalier in The Innocents of Paris. Great graphic description of the film Close Harmony which says it all- All the jazz, joys heartaches and jealousies of backstage life in 100% audible prose and plenty of singing and playing! Ad measures 11 x 15 condition is crisp and bright overall some minor wear to the edges. A fantastic bit of early talking picture history to add and enhance any collection!
