Description:
1925 Charming Vintage Deco Ad- Gloria Swanson is among the Film Personalities of Paramount- John La Gatta Artwork. Simply Wonderful Original Vintage Deco Ad taken from the pages of a February, 1925 issue of Saturday Evening Post Magazine. Paramount Studios helped promote their stable of stars with a series of beautifully designed and perfectly placed color ad such as this one touting the variant virtues of their glorious Gloria Swanson. An actress of great depth and range as comfortable in historical dramas as modern drawing room comedies, Swanson was in 1925 among the premiere stars of the Art Deco period. Artist John La Gatta focuses his considerable talents upon a sereis of iamges of Swanson at her best- in wedding-gfown, in profile with bobbed hair, dressed a a street gamin in her upcoming Madame Sans Genet- a film that Paramount boasted would soon be considered one of the finest ever made. Paramount and Famous Players Lasky felt entirely confident in their immodest claims that If it's a Paramount Picture it's the Best Show in Town! Wonderful mid-twenties graphic expertly captures the sensational star quality of Swanason at her finest reminding prospective film- followers that within the next few months she would be seen in no less than five upcoming films- ranging from the shop-girl comedy Manhandled to the very dramatic Humming Bird and lavish historical epic Madame Sans Genet approved by none other than the Fine Arts Ministry of France and filmed on and around Paris.
