1924 Adorable Vintage Deco Halloween Post Cover Art- Fetching Flapper in Ruffled Frock with Eerie Jack O' Lantern Companion.- Pearl L. Hill Artwork. Absolutely Darling Original Vintage Deco Saturday Evening Post Artwork created for the November 1, 1924 issue of the magazine. Artist Pearl L. Hill creates a cover with a flirty fetching flapper wearing a ruffled dance dress trimmed in large orange shaded flowers- note the bloom in her cheeks and short bobbed hair- she holds an eerie faced illuminated jack o' lantern gleaming, ghoulish and fantastic. Sat Post hired hundreds of illustrators and painters to create original charming imagery which certainly helped sell the publication during it;s Art Deco heyday. Wonderful image is delicate and delightfully bold at the same time- the only colors are the soft gray orange and black of the background. Hill was particularly adept at images of pretty young flappers- and her work is often compared to contemporary Neysa Mc Mein. Wonderful example of the creme de la creme of cover artistry! Condition is good overall- some wear to the edges and light browning at the bottom. Upside-down mailing label is still affixed over the o and s in word post. Will be spooky and stunning on display with any decor!
